Pink Floyd lands their first U.K. No. 1 album in over a decade with Live at Pompeii, marking the prog rock legends first chart-topping album since 2014’s The Endless River. The album coincides with a digital remastering of their 1972 concert film, capturing their legendary performance in the Roman amphitheatre at Pompeii, Italy. This marks Floyd’s seventh career No. 1 album in the U.K., tying them with Blur, Kasabian, Barbara Streisand, George Michael, Muse, The Prodigy, and Paul McCartney. In addition to Live at Pompeii and The Endless River, Pink Floyd’s other U.K. No. 1 albums are Atom Heart Mother (1970), Wish You Were Here (1975), The Final Cut (1983), The Division Bell (1994), and Pulse (Live) (1995). The group’s legendary 1973 masterpiece, The Dark Side of the Moon, only reached No. 2 in the U.K., despite going 16x-platinum and spending 578 weeks on the chart. It was kept from reaching No. 1 by the long-forgotten compilation 20 Flash Back Greats of the Sixties. (Billboard)
